Hoertz The Barb Strikes 1945. The U.S. submarine Barb races away from a Japanese convoy that it has just successfully attacked pursued by a Japanese destroyer which has failed in its mission to protect the shattered convoy. On this patrol the Barb was equipped wih 5" rockets as well as a deck gun and torpedos. She used these weapons to attack Japanese targets on land and sea which was a first. At one point she even landed raiders who mined a costal railroad destroying 13 railroad cars and killing 150 passengers. For this and other heroic exploits, her skipper, Captain Gene Fluckey, was awarded the Medal of Honor. 13x18 mint conservation backed.
