Dan Smith's classic Don't Let That Shadow Touch Them 1944 pictures children menaced by a swastika as they play in their back yard. They sense danger and stop playing as the shadow passes overhead. The oldest child's reaction is particularly telling, he shields the younger brother while holding his model bomber. The girl's doll is upside down on the grass and is metaphorically dead as the shadow touches it. The doll represents the children of Europe. 40x28 near mint conservation backed.
