Tom Woodburn U.S. Army Guardians of the Colors 1940. The artist, Captain Tom Woodburn, was stationed on Governors Island, New York as head of the Army Publiucity Bureau. This is one of a distinguished series of posters issued just before Pearl Harbor. Guardians of the Colors is a classic sunny prewar poster grounded in tradition.. Woodburn shows a color guard hoisting Old Glory alongside the U.S. Army flag. In 1940, the war was raging in Europe as America remained neutral with a army smaller than Romania. 38x25 near mint, conservation backed.
